Soigné Kothari recently opened a new fashion boutique on Madison Avenue in New York that showcases the creations of well known designers from India. The new store, called Soigne K, is one of the first stores of its kind in the US, offering high-end modern Indian fashion for the western woman. Soigné Kothari is the wife of Rajiv Tushar Kothari and daughter of Naina and Harshad R. Mehta.

A graduate in Finance from H.R. College of Commerce, Mumbai with an Associate’s degree in Fashion Merchandising from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, Kothari was a successful jewellery and fashion designer, holding her own trunk shows across the US. She created Karma, a successful line of spiritually inspired jewellery that was distributed by Fragments.

Her new two-storey store has contemporary clothing and accessories on the ground floor and formal wear, including a selection of one-of-a-kind saris, gowns and lehengas, on the higher floor.  It includes Indian designers like Falguni & Shane, Manish Aurora, Prashant Verma and Ashish Soni. The collections are a combination of handcrafted tradition with a modern twist and have been handpicked to embody the combination of India’s rich heritage and western sensibility.

Soigne K is also involved with the Rajmal Rikhavchand Mehta Charitable Foundation, which was established in 1972, and will donate one school uniform for any purchase made over $500.
